Commissioner Gerd brings a uniquely broad background in emergency services, public safety command, judicial leadership, and institutional management to Lakeview Fire. Raised in rural Kentucky, he developed an early appreciation for the importance of dependable emergency response and well-functioning public systems.

Over the course of his career, Gerd has led organizations across multiple sectors. He founded and served as CEO of LibertyMed Hospital and EMS, building one of the largest emergency medical networks in Liberty State. He later served in senior public safety leadership roles during a period of statewide instability, focusing on crisis response, organizational discipline, and operational coordination. His experience also includes judicial leadership, where he emphasized fairness, consistency, and accountability within the legal system.

As Fire Commissioner, Gerd applies lessons learned from healthcare, emergency management, law enforcement leadership, and the judiciary to strengthen operational readiness, firefighter safety, and public trust.
